Golden Hour Birth Doula
Elizabeth Hannum
There’s a moment when everything softens—light pours in, time slows, and the world feels full and alive.
In birth, that moment has a name.
The golden hour.
Raw, real, and full of life—where everything shifts, and everything begins.
To birth a baby is to birth the mother.
Offering compassionate, grounded birth support at home to empower and transform you.
Hello! My name is Elizabeth —
My journey to birth work as a doula has been a slow unfolding. Initially, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and worked as a registered nurse for several years. Soon after our family began expanding. Through my own birth experiences, I not only became a mother but found a deep love for the holistic model of midwifery and doula care. Since then I have had another home birth and began my own journey of training under midwives and serving families a birth doula. My formal doula training is through Childbirth International, an accredited program that completed a circle of experiences I had already had learning about how to best support women in pregnancy, labor support, birth physiology, and postpartum care — including lactation support. My approach to birth work is unique in getting a taste for both conventional medicine and a more holistic, natural-based approach. I like to think I use my knowledge in both to serve the families I connect with to help them feel sure and grounded in their own birth stories.
When I’m not at a birth you can find me at home being mama to two wild, little boys, gardening, hiking, or catching the odd shift in a local surgery center when I’m not on-call for a doula client. Parenthood has been the sweetest version of my life and I’m happy to do it alongside my partner, Nathan, and I truly enjoy the ever-changing, flexibility that my life lends me!
I like to think of myself as passionate, but down-to-Earth with an excellent sense of humor that kicks in right around the same time as those heavy contractions. Working as a doula, I have been lovingly duped as “your built-in best friend who happens to know a lot about birth” which I will gladly be for you.
An empowered pregnancy and birth shape the way you step into motherhood.
My role is to provide evidence-based, holistic doula support—so you feel informed, steady, and confident every step of the way.
Birth Offerings
Support That Meets You Right Where You Are
You don’t have to navigate birth feeling unsure or alone. I offer accessible, steady, personal support through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum — so you can feel guided, grounded, and at peace every step of the way.
I believe in being upfront about what doula support costs — no surprises, no pressure. My rates are thoughtfully set: conservative, yet comparable to what others charge locally.
Payment plans are always available. If cost is your only hesitation, let’s talk — I want every mother to have access to the support she seeks.
Note: Arkansas Medicaid and select private insurance reimbursement for doula services is expected to become available soon. I’ll share updates as soon as I’m able to accept those options for compensation.

What People Are Saying
I highly recommend Elizabeth! She was supportive from the very beginning. She strives to help you meet your goals regardless of what those goals might be. During labor, she advocated for me when I no longer could for myself. With my first child, I didn't have a doula. The labor process was chaotic as I didn't feel prepared. My delivery with Elizabeth was much smoother. She made me feel comfortable and capable. I truly couldn't have done my pregnancy without her!
— C., second-time mama + VBAC
I had the privilege of Elizabeth being there for my first birth. I knew I wanted her to be there! She gave me advice throughout my pregnancy and checked on me daily for the last couple of weeks leading up to birth. She took over communicating with family, encouraged me, kept a hot towel on my back in the tub, took photos that we'll cherish forever, and more!
— M., first-time mama + home birther
Choosing Elizabeth to be your birth Doula will be the one of the best decisions you will ever make! She is so knowledgeable about birth and amazing at providing fact-based information and resources to encourage informed consent and decision-making. She is incredibly calm and empathetic and just an amazing presence to be around. By the end of your time working with Elizabeth, I feel confident that anyone will have made a new trusted friend - she’s amazing.
— K., two-time mama
During my pregnancy, Elizabeth would constantly help guide me to decisions that felt safe and right for ME. Never overriding my feelings or voice, she gave me space to figure out what I wanted. At the same time, she oozed warmth - like a big hug sister hug. And most of all, she’s just totally competent and knowledgeable. Which makes every thing feel better when there’s someone who knows what they’re doing! Highly recommend in whatever capacity.

Wow…Elizabeth has a heart of gold! She is someone you absolutely want by your side in such a vulnerable, beautiful, and important space. She empowers, empathizes, and advocates for you and with you. You need her in this space! 🙌🏼

Elizabeth was truly such a blessing as my husband and I navigated our first pregnancy, birth, and postpartum! We initially reached out to her unsure about our goals and plan for birth, and she was able to help us learn so much about the labor process + how to prepare my body and baby for the smoothest delivery possible! She checked in often throughout pregnancy and was consistently available to answer questions and give advice as we navigated advocating for our preference in the hospital setting, even before we reached her “on call” time with us. We have learned so much from Elizabeth and we know that her patient, gentle, and encouraging spirit were instrumental in our unmedicated hospital birth!
— A., first-time mama
Elizabeth is an extraordinary person whose kindness, knowledge, and genuine care make her an invaluable presence during the birthing process. She creates a calming and reassuring environment, offering unwavering support and empathy at every turn. Her deep understanding of childbirth, combined with her ability to explain each step in a clear and comforting way will help you feel empowered and informed. Elizabeth’s dedication to helping you through every moment, no matter how challenging, ensures that you never feel alone in the process. With her by your side, you can trust that you’ll receive not only expert guidance but also heartfelt encouragement every step of the way.

FAQs
What's the difference between a doula and a midwife?
Doulas provide non-clinical emotional, physical, and informational support. Midwives handle medical care like exams, monitoring, and delivering the baby.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. I require half of the payment as a retainer to put you on my schedule. Following your initial investment, it is up to you the frequency that you make your additional payments. My only requirement is that I am paid in full by the time I am on call for you at 37 weeks.
Do you support home and hospital births?
I support women who trust in physiological birth and desire to experience birth uninterrupted at home. For those who are risked out of home birth, but still desire a natural birth in the hospital, I am glad to support them as well. It goes without saying that I support women throughout every step of their labor especially when they may have an unexpected transport to the hospital as well. Always reach out to me either way!
Will my partner feel replaced?
Not at all. My goal is to support both of you — offering reassurance, guidance, and rest so your partner can be present and confident too. I feel like I have done my job well when both parents move into their new roles empowered — this begins at the birth for both mom and dad.
When should I book with you?
As soon as possible! I have clients who reach out to me right after a positive pregnancy test, even before they conceive! The more time we have together, the more that we can build trust and understanding with each other.
Can I hire you if this isn't the first time I am having a baby?
Absolutely. Many of my clients are second- or third-time moms seeking a more supported experience or a different kind of birth than before.
